The popular 'Why Bamboo' question

Bamboo fabric products have become widely popular in the last few years. And to be completely honest, for the longest time I hadn't understood why.
As all first time moms, I learned a lot in the first year of my first born's life. The most obvious thing being how quickly they grow and what little use you sometimes got out of their clothing. I only ever knew of cotton pajamas for the first 8 months of his life. I knew it was just another piece of clothing to be put away around the same time the rest of the size he was outgrowing was being boxed up. I saw these bamboo pajama company ads pop up and the only thing I could think was "I would never spend that amount on pajamas for my kid who will just outgrow them so fast."
I finally bought my first piece of bamboo pajamas in a boutique on a family vacation. But even then I still didn't understand the facts about bamboo, I just knew the pajama was cute, soft, and I wanted it for my son lol. Truthfully, it wasn't for a few months I had realized my son was still fitting in this dang pajama for months now as I had boxed up all of his old clothes and pajamas in the same size. I decided to pull the trigger and ordered multiple pairs from another site. It quite literally was a click in the head moment of "okay, I now see why people obsess over bamboo pajamas..."
From that moment on I was obsessed with bamboo pajamas! Which is entirely the reason why I had such a desire to start my own bamboo pajama company. I did months of researching, learning, and adapting myself to the familiarity of bamboo textiles and how and why they were so important for babies and kids.
Like a lot babies, my first son was eczema prone. Their skin is so new and sensitive in this big world and he constantly would break out with eczema spots. Not only did a good night time routine play a factor into getting his eczema under control, but the bamboo pajamas helped tremendously!!! Like Woah!! We started living in them day and night. The fact that the bamboo plant grows so quickly, it doesn't require any pesticides or chemicals to grow. And bamboo textiles are so soft and smooth laying on the skin without any scratchy fibers to irritate the skin.
Another highly important part was how versatile the fabric was for all seasons. Due to bamboo's hallow nature, it allows for it to be extremely breathable and moisture wicking by letting air circulate and sweat evaporate keeping skin cool and dry. This helps keep your little one a few degrees cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter. We all know how much we obsess over our babies and kids sleeping at an appropriate temperature. This gave me peace of mind knowing my son would be comfortable all night long with all other things that played into how well he would sleep that night.
Now let's talk getting our money's worth. There is not a single other piece of clothing in my kids closet I felt I truly got my money's worth other than his bamboo pajamas. And yes, even at the price they sell at I feel this way. He was in 2T clothing in most other items and could STILL fit into his 12-18M bamboo zipped rompers. The stretch on the fabric is unreal. This allows for twice the amount of use since it will continue to stretch with your growing kiddo. Now that I am a mom again for the second time around, I can't believe I didn't know about and use bamboo pajamas from the time my first was a newborn. My now almost 3.5 month old is still rocking the 0-3M zipped rompers with plenty of stretch to keep growing into. Even the diaper changes are a breeze to get his little limbs in and out of.
At the end of the day, you have to see for yourself why bamboo is so wonderful! Of course there are many other bamboo pajama companies out there, and they are all pretty great! The biggest reason I started Timber and Moon was because I was passionate in the beneficial use of bamboo for babies and kids, and I grew a tremendous love for designing all of my own patterns and designs. So next time you see bamboo pajamas and think, are those really worth it? The answer is YES, they really are.
